Two Generations of Weddings, Same Fireplace

Here you see two generations of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gallant. On the left, is the Gallant couple who married today at the Hawthorne Hotel.

On the right you see the Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gallant who were married here on May 19, 1968. They are both posed in front of the fireplace in the Pickman Room.

The final photo is of the senior couple, as they looked at todays wedding.

I hope you enjoy this slice of married life here at the Hawthorne Hotel.

We just love getting these kinds of e-mails

Here is an e-mail that was sent to Amy Jacobson, our offsite catering manager, regarding a recent wedding that was held at the PEM and catered by us, Hawthorne Catering.

Amy,
Its been a month and people are still talking about the wedding!

I just wanted to drop you an email to say thank you again for everything you did for both Danene and I. We truly had the time of our lives and wouldn't have changed a thing.

Everyone I talk too that came raved about the food, the room and the how perfectly the whole thing was run.Without your guidance and help, this process would have been nearly impossible. All the details and all the little things came together better than we could have ever hoped.

A few days after, Danene and I were talking and in going through the whole thing again, we couldn't find a point in which we were not having an absolute blast. In addition, could you please forward this email along to Natalia as she was just as instrumental in the evening. She was there the whole time and without her direction, it would have been a confused mess! She was
truly a professional and helped make the night as special as it was.

We have yet to get the actual photographer pictures yet but all the pictures from friends are stellar. As soon as we have the real ones, we'll be sure to let you know. For as long as people will bother to listen about how great it was, I will be recommending you guys without hesitation. It was a day that really could not have been any more exciting for both of us and you guys helped make that possible.

I hope you are having a great summer and we look forward to showing you the pictures!

We love to hear from our satisfied wedding guests!

Today we received this lovely email:

Hi, Karen-
Hope you had a nice vacation!

We want to take a moment to thank you and your staff for our fantastic wedding reception at the Hawthorne on August 5th.

The room looked so elegant, the food was fabulous, the service was excellent, and Lindsay was so pleasant and helpful that evening as well. I can't say enough about the job all of you guys did. We were absolutely thrilled with EVERYTHING. We continue to get calls from our family and friends telling us what a wonderful evening they had. Thanks again for everything and we look forward to coming back and enjoying more great times at the Hawthorne!

Sincerely,

Erica and Peter

and this nice hand-written note:

Hi Karen,

I want to say thank you to you and the staff of the hotel.

Without your help and guidance my daughter's wedding would not have been as great as it was.

You have a beautiful hotel and a helpful and accommodating staff.

Once again, thank you.

Cutting the Cake

While wedding cakes began as a fertility symbol, most people don't associate the wedding cake with having lots of children anymore.

Today the wedding cake has become a kind of a first meal for the bride and groom. Today's couples cut a slice before anyone else and feed it to each other, symbolizing the support they'll provide through their many years together

Here you see Sean and Kelly with this traditional cutting of the first slice of cake.

Something Different

When you work in a place that hosts over 100 weddings a year, the things that are out of the ordinary are always of interest.

Here you see a wedding that chose bagpipers as part of the evening's events, and to make it even more special, the groom's sister joined in.

What a nice touch, and one that will stick in our memories as well.

What are you doing for your happy day?

An Almost Aerial View of our Ballroom

Christine snapped these photos of our Ballroom here at the Hawthorne Hotel when it was being readied for the wedding of Kelly Newell, of our staff. Kelly chose chair covers for the chairs, and lovely organza runners for the tables. The room looked so elegant, and we were proud to host her wedding.

Church of the Immaculate Conception

When our catering assistant, Kelly Newell married her fiance, Sean Lilly, last Friday night, the ceremony was at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, just down the block from the Hawthorne Hotel.

Christine Turner took this photo, which I thought you might like to see.

Arrive in style at your Hawthorne Hotel wedding

Here you see Lisa and Kevin, who were married here at the Hawthorne on a lovely June day this year. They arrived in style in a limousine which was part of our wedding package for their special day.

Their daughter was a junior bridesmaid.

Here they are, in the last photo, making their first dance together in our ballroom.

Can we plan your special day?

Wedding Details Make a Big Difference

Here at the Hawthorne Hotel we specialize in wonderful weddings, so we are always interested in seeing some unusual details that we might be able to share.

Tonight's wedding had a number of such details, such as this darling sweets table, all done up in red to match the flowers and other aspects of the decor for th evening.

In addition, the wedding cake table had a snowglobe, with a dancing wedding couple inside.
I hope you enjoy seeing some of these lovely photos.

Groom's Cakes Making a Come-back?

At the wedding we hosted this past weekend, you can see the bride and groom enjoying their 'first dance', with the bridal party in the background.

We know so many times it seems like weddings are all about 'the bride', as you can see by the term 'bridal party' in my first paragraph.

That is why I thought it would be fun to post these photos for you to enjoy, because the bottom photo is of the 'groom's cake' from this very wedding. The custom of having a groom's cake at a wedding reception seems to have nearly disappeared, but it is reappearing lately.

While this particular cake is quite elaborate as groom's cakes go, we thought you might enjoy considering this lovely old-fashioned gesture. I'd like to see more things that honor the groom in a wedding reception, so let us know what you think, what your ideas are!
