Some Unique Touches to Friday Night's Wedding at the Hawthorne Hotel

Judy and Glen, whose wedding is pictured above, had some unusual elements that we don't often get to see. The most exciting was the arch of swords provided by the honor guard.

The most touching was the groom's cake that the bride provided as a surprise for her new husband. It is emblazoned with a family crest that the groom’s father (who is deceased) made years ago. As a boy Glen would stamp all his books and papers with this crest. The bride had the groom’s mom search for it and found it. She then provided it to the cake decorator to inscribe on the groom's cake.

This couple specifically wanted this date of Leap Year when they booked.

All of these very romantic touches made a wedding night to remember, and one we and they, enjoy sharing with you.

Our Guests Are Our Best Advertisement

We have to admit, we advertise only to keep our image as 'top of mind' because the overwhelming way we get our wedding business is by referrals. Time after time, when we ask the question "What made you choose the Hawthorne Hotel?" we learn that someone either had had a wedding here, or had attended a wedding here, or knew someone who had a great experience here.

The following is another nice email which demonstrates that thought. Of course, it made our day this week. This was from a wedding couple from this past weekend:

Christine,
I wanted to take a minute this morning as life adjusts back to normal and say THANK YOU! The wedding was great. Everyone has commented on what a good time they had and how excellent the food was and Liz made it so easy for us and took a lot of the stress and worry away by just taking care of things. The room looked great and all the details came together well. Start to finish Kate and I had fun, even Steve the limo driver was EXCELLENT.

I hope to hear from you, too. And don't forget, now you can call your compliments in to our blog. Just click on the "Call Me" button to in the column to the right of this post.

Voicemail on a Blog? Absolutely! Try it Out on Our Wedding Blog

While the Hawthorne Hotel might be housed in a lovely old building, there is nothing old about our attitude towards technology.

I recently learned of a service whereby you can call our Blog and leave a voice message. The following one is a test I did to try it out. I hope you will leave us a message too. Obviously, please keep them clean and polite so I can publish them, okay? Thanks so much. I hope you enjoy this new service.

A Nice E-mail to Start Our Day

This email arrived in Karen Cotton's mailbox recently, and I thought you might like to read it too.

Juli

Dear Karen,

Chris and I want to thank you and your whole team for making our wedding a beautiful, unforgettable, and seamless event. Everything went very smoothly, and I was completely at ease in Jessica's very capable hands.

All of our interactions with you and your team were very professional which we also value very highly.

Overall, we had a wonderful experience with the Hawthorne Hotel for our wedding, and would recommend it to everyone we know!

We will send some pictures when we get them, after our honeymoon.

Thank you again,

Chris and Phyllis,

Different Kinds of Overlays

Sheer "Sharen" Ivory over Burgundy Cloth

Antique Gold Runner

Gold Organza Overlay (it will not be a floor length as it appears here, because this sample was set up on a cocktail table -- it would fall to overlay length on a 60" or 72" round, which is approximately a 12" to 18" drop)

Pearl Satin Band

All of these specialty tableclothes and runners are upgrades from the wedding package. We are simply presenting them to you here for informational purposes.

Chair Covers, Bows and Sashes

At our most recent 'wedding tasting' event here at the Hawthorne Hotel, we displayed several different kinds of chair treatments. You can see them all in these photo. Even the ties have different finishes, from a traditional bow, to a tailored look, to a simple small knot.

Please ask your wedding coordinator for more information about these upgrades for your wedding. If you don't already have your wedding booked with us, please contact our catering office at 978-825-4358.

Some Very Sad News

On Thursday our beloved harp-player, Nina Vickers, passed away after a valiant fight against cancer. Not only was Nina such a special part of many weddings here at the Hawthorne Hotel, but she was also a part of every special holiday event held here at the Hotel.

Nina, you were such an inspiration.

We will miss you greatly.

Details Make a Difference

Here are some close-up shots of some of the details that were part of Saturday night's wedding. I thought the flowers were especially lovely, and the use of the chocolate suede-cloth 'hat box' for gift cards was a charming touch as well.

The Ballroom Set for a Wedding

These photos show the Ballroom set up for a wedding this past Saturday. The chair covers were white with chocolate brown organza ties. The ties were done with a 'new' style bow. What do you think?

An Unusual Chocolate Wedding Cake

These photos show a more contemporary look in our Ballroom here at the Hawthorne Hotel, yet it most certainly works with our decor. I hope you enjoy this different look at our hotel.

The Pickman Room for Photos

Here are some photos of today's wedding, the Consolazio-Mackay wedding party, taking photos in our Pickman Room just prior to their wedding ceremony in the Ballroom. The bride was so lovely, and agreeable to having her photos on our Wedding Blog.

I hope you enjoy seeing them.
