Awesome Wedding With Darling Details

At the Hawthorne Hotel we see so many weddings that there are times when you could say we have seen it all.  Then someone comes in with a vision for a wedding, and executes it in just that special way that makes us sit up and take note.

Last night's wedding was one such event.  It was both special and beautiful at the same time.  While it had a tiny touch of Halloween incorporated into it, there was nothing garish at all about it.  From the runner at the wedding ceremony, to the gorgeous centerpieces, and everything in between, it was done with great taste and attention to detail.

Katelyn and Daniel were so fun to work with, as was Katelyn's mother who was so creative.  Thanks so much for letting us photograph and share your ideas here on our Wedding Blog for the historic Hawthorne Hotel.

We hope you enjoy seeing these photos that I took last night.

Darling holder for gift card envelopes.  It was an off-the-shelf piece that was modified to accept the envelopes.
The "small detail" was in getting them out, but that is a story for another day.

Guests were asked to leave thumb prints in purple and orange on this lovely personalized tree.

Place card holders are slices of birch tree, picking up on the Fall theme with the leaves very nicely.

So lovely, waiting on the landing for her cue.

Liz closes the doors, waits for the right moment in the music and directs the bride and dad into the room.

The runner was exquisite, each edge covered with crystals and purple flower petals, all handmade by the bride's mother and aunt.

The room looked so beautiful for the ceremony

The bride, Katelyn, entered the room as a "Baxter"
And she became a "Musser" at the end of the runner.

These arrangements did double-duty.  They served as part of the decor for the wedding ceremony, and then became centerpieces for alternating tables at the dinner.

The program for the wedding

Alternating tables had ivory cloths with beautiful sheer scroll overlays.  Those tables had centerpieces made in pumpkins.

The alternating tables had aubergine tablecloths with the same scroll overlays, and they got the tall, branches with lights and crystals for their centers

The sweetheart table had an arrangement made in a white pumpkin.  The window sills had decorations too.

The wedding cake echoed the theme of Fall, and had a darling customized topper of him and her.

The table numbers were leaves.

The beautiful upgraded green water goblets really helped the room glow, and echoed the leaf theme.

The crystals in the centerpieces echoed the crystal chandeliers in the Grand Ballroom.

I hope you enjoy seeing all of these many photos of this extra-cool wedding here at the historic Hawthorne Hotel. Juli

A Lovely Thank You From a Recent Bride

Nothing makes the Hawthorne team happier than receiving a note of thanks from a recent bride. This was a note we got a few weeks ago from some newlyweds who celebrated with us this past September.

Getting to play even a small part in this couple's day means so much to us at the Hotel. Words as kind as these are what keeps the entire team going. We cannot thank you enough for writing.

A Wedding on 10-11-12

 This week contained an auspicious date for a wedding, 10-11-12, and it seemed that in many places having a Thursday wedding was not such an unusual occurrence.  As you can see, the Hawthorne Hotel was pleased to host a destination wedding party, and here are some photos of the bride leaving the hotel with her attendants, headed to the church, in a horse-drawn buggy.
It was such a charming sight that I asked if I could take some photos to add to our blog, and as you can see, the answer was a happy "yes" so there they are.

I hope you enjoy seeing another aspect of the Hawthorne Hotel.

Nice "Thanks" via Email with Beautiful Photo of Ballroom

This was a great way to end my day yesterday, reading this great email from a recent wedding here at the Hawthorne Hotel.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi Juli,
We just returned from our Honeymoon and I wanted to send you a quick note to thank you as our reception at the Hawthorne was spectacular. Our family and friends are still talking about what an incredible evening it was and how impressed they were with the Hawthorne and staff. I'm still waiting for my professional photos and will be happy to share a few of those when I receive them. My photographer sent me a sample photo of the ballroom - stunning!
Christine and Liz were a pleasure to work with and so helpful. Liz was on top of everything during the reception and kept us moving along. I will send them a note as well but wanted to let you know how impressed we were with their professionalism and the evening seemed seamless!
Thank you again!
Kind Regards,
Robyn
In further correspondence with Robyn, I inquired about their honeymoon, and learned they went to the Amalfi Coast in Italy.  She shared a photo with me that was spectacular, so I asked if I could share it with you all here, and she was gracious in saying "Sure!" so here it is.
Beautiful Wedding at PEM
As you may or may not know, we cater weddings and other events at the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) here in Salem.  Recently we were involved with a gorgeous wedding for Ryan and Tim.
The photos, by David Tucker, are spectacular. You can see how the couple embraced their "artistic" surroundings in everything from their decorations to a very unique wedding cake!
Take a look at the photos here: Ryan and Tim at the PEM.
I hope you enjoy seeing these.
Tonight's Wedding
The wedding reception that took place in the Grand Ballroom tonight had lovely overlays, so snapped a few photos with my iPhone.
The look was perfect for the season, looking like the end of summer, but not quite autumn, adding a beautiful glow overall.
I hope you enjoy seeing them.
Blushing Pink and Gold Set the Tone
Here are some photos of a wedding reception that took place in the Hawthorne Hotel this past Sunday evening. We really enjoyed seeing the different details of this particular wedding event, especially the use of the gold tones paired with blushing pink.
The place cards had little gold keys tied to tags, which all spoke to the "advice" cards you will see in the photos below.
The use of the gold Chiavari ballroom chairs and gold "chargers" really set a lovely mood in the Grand Ballroom.
A touching tribute substitutes for a traditional "favor".
Such a beautiful table setting.
And a gorgeous wedding cake - - simple and elegant, to finish off the evening.
I hope you enjoy taking a peak at yet another wedding here a the Hawthorne Hotel.
Intriguing Details, Lovely Wedding
We love seeing ideas for the details of a wedding reception, so having a bird's-eye view right here at the Hawthorne Hotel makes our jobs ideal.
The place cards were also a favor, as they were photo holders as well.  There was a photo booth provided for guests to enjoy during the wedding reception, so the plastic sleeve holding the place card became a place to put the photo strip from the photo booth.
The back side of the place card explained what to do, and asked for a copy of the photos from the photo booth to be left for the bride and groom.
This sign, made by the bride, was used to welcome guests to the wedding ceremony on the Salem Common.  Very sweet sentiment expressed in a lovely way!
Instead of table numbers, the "street signs" of important places.
A lovely thought for the couple, on the sweetheart table.
Cute cake topper for Mr. & Mrs. Lovebirds.
On the reverse side of each "street sign" was the city and state, and the reason for that street's inclusion.
Loved this one!
What a delightful couple, who really put themselves into their wedding.  I wish them a long and joyous marriage.
This Friday-night wedding had the Ballroom set for only 70 guests, but the room still looked lovely.
Enjoy!
Darling and Different Wedding Cake Topper
One of the things we love about hosting so many weddings here at the Hawthorne Hotel is that we get to see many different ideas for the details associated with weddings.  Here are some photos of a cute idea for a very different "bride and groom" cake topper.  These are chocolate-dipped strawberries for him and her, decorated as the groom in his tux and the bride in her gown.  We thought they were so cute, we had to share.
We hope you enjoy this idea as much as we did.
Listening to Our VoiceMail
Several days ago we received this really nice voice mail message.  We thought you might enjoy "hearing" it too!
Hello Karen!  This is Ron Clark.
We had a wedding for my daughter Paige and Dave, her husband, on Sunday evening and I just wanted to let you know that Liz was just outstanding and meeting every need that we had that evening and it was just a totally flawless evening for my family and of course my daughter Paige.
When I called in I was going to talk to Liz and tell her thanks again but I was told that you were the Director of Catering that started everything well for Paige (you probably worked with my wife, Malia) and I just wanted to let you all know that it was just a great wedding and everyone just raved about the food and the location and the service, and I’ve got to echo that too.
So thanks a bunch! My phone number is . . . . .
We love hearing compliments, reading compliments, and generally just making our guests happy.  If you are looking for a place to hold a wedding reception, you will not find a place with better customer service than the Hawthorne Hotel.
I hope to see you (or hear from you) here!
The End is Just the Beginning
Tonight I got to take a brief video and some still photos of a wedding that was taking place in the Grand Ballroom of the Hawthorne Hotel.  I happen to think that the end of the wedding ceremony is the best part, so I am sharing that with you here.  Enjoy!
