Literary/Book-Themed Wedding

Our jobs at the Hawthorne Hotel often put us in the "catbird" seat in terms of being able to get a look at so many different events, different ideas and unique ideas.  That happened with a recent wedding, where the participants chose a literary or book theme for their wedding, and executed it with some special touches.

Here are some photos for you to enjoy:

We loved the use of an old card catalog box to hold the place cards.  The cards were even "typed out" in the style of old library reference cards.

The "bud vases" for the cocktail tables were carved out of old books, made to look like vases.

The "table numbers" were the names of favorite books, and the centerpieces encompassed old books laced together with raffia and ivy ties which served to unite floral elements with the books.

The wedding cake was a stunner, with the book,  A Love Story, topping the pile.

Pages of books were used to decorate the cake table, as you can see below.

The couple and their wedding party engaged in a lightsaber fight during their photo shoot. How fun!

I hope you enjoy this look at yet another different kind of wedding in the Grand Ballroom of the historic Hawthorne Hotel.

Beautiful Wedding with Cobalt Blue Accents, and a Hot Dog Truck at the End

Last weekend we had a lovely wedding in the Grand Ballroom. The bride and groom seemed to think of everything to make their guests' night a special one, and I thought you would like to see the photos we took.

We especially loved the touches of cobalt blue, with the flower vases matched by the uplighting, along with all the accents of gold, such as the chargers at each place setting. There was lots of glitz and glamour everywhere, from the cake topper to the tongs on the candy station.

The most unique addition was the hot dog "truck" that showed up at the end of the night to provide snacks in the parking lot. While those photos were hard to get just right, you can get the idea of just what fun everyone was having all through this grand wedding.

I hope you enjoy seeing all of this. Special thanks to evening manager Elizabeth Buchanan, of the Hawthorne Hotel staff, who took all of these photos for us.

We LOVE to be LOVED

I do not think there is much in the realm of human correspondence that is as lovely as a nicely crafted "thank you note" and this one is especially nice.  I hope you enjoy reading it as much as we did.

We do have a great TEAM of staff members here at the Hawthorne Hotel who really love their jobs and it shows in everything they do.  Here is a specific testimonial to a number of them.

I hope we can impress you as much as we did this lovely family.

What Happens When. . . . ?

When you blend a family reunion with a wedding, what does that become?  Well, in the case of this lovely family it becomes an awesome little party with some lovely extra touches.

When this event was booked it was for a family reunion.  Some place along the way it became the venue for a lovely small wedding.  I thought you might enjoy seeing the photos.

This cupcake "tree" is one of the yummiest, most tempting that I have seen.  It was all I could do not to "snitch" one of these delicious-looking cupcakes.

The chairs designated for the Bride and Groom are to be expected, but I loved the special seat for the "Ring Bearer" who I also met at breakfast that morning.  He even had on a tee-shirt designating him as the Official Ring Bearer.  Too cute!  Great memories!!
Even the Candy Station was in miniature, but still very nicely done.
This certainly shows that not every wedding has to be a huge affair, and that you can probably afford a wedding at the Hawthorne Hotel if you really want one here.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing these photos.

Wedding at Hamilton Hall

Last Saturday night was an extremely busy one for those of us associated with the Hawthorne Hotel and Hawthorne Catering.  We handled a wedding in the Grand Ballroom, one at PEM, one at Hamilton Hall, and a miniature one in Sophia's.  Whew!

Our staff are such professionals that you would have never known what else was going on as you attended one of these many events.  Here are photos of the wedding reception set-up at Hamilton Hall:

Hors d'oeuvres station in the ground floor reception area.

The following three photos are of the ground floor reception area.

This photo below is of the private room for the wedding party.

The bar is set in a room with an antique fireplace.
Moving upstairs for the dinner, you can see a panoramic view of the room.

And of course, the cake, which was beautiful and matched the antique elegance of this site perfectly.
I hope you enjoy this look inside Hamilton Hall at a beautiful wedding.
